At TruSelf Therapy Collective, we are dedicated to providing a holistic and integrative approach to healing through Polyvagal Theory, Somatic Experiencing (SE), and Internal Family Systems (IFS). These evidence-based modalities empower individuals to reconnect with their authentic selves, heal from trauma, and cultivate resilience by addressing the mind, body, and nervous system.
Polyvagal Theory: Healing Through Nervous System Regulation
Polyvagal Theory, developed by Dr. Stephen Porges, explains the profound connection between the nervous system and emotional well-being. This framework explores how the vagus nerve influences our responses to stress and safety, helping us understand how states like fight, flight, freeze, or shutdown can emerge in response to trauma.
At TruSelf Therapy Collective, we integrate Polyvagal Theory to help clients:
Recognize and regulate their nervous system responses.
Build a sense of safety in their bodies through grounding and body-based awareness.
Shift out of survival states and into connection, promoting emotional balance and resilience.
By creating a space where clients feel physically and emotionally safe, we help them restore their natural ability to regulate emotions and respond to challenges with confidence and calm.
Somatic Experiencing: Releasing Trauma Stored in the Body
Somatic Experiencing, pioneered by Dr. Peter Levine, focuses on resolving the physical effects of trauma stored in the body. Trauma often disrupts the natural cycles of the nervous system, leaving individuals stuck in states of hyperarousal or shutdown. SE works by gently guiding clients to reconnect with their body's sensations, allowing for the release of tension and trapped energy associated with trauma.
Our approach to Somatic Experiencing helps clients:
Safely process unresolved trauma through body-centered techniques.
Complete defensive responses like fight, flight, or freeze that were interrupted during traumatic events.
Re-establish a sense of equilibrium and well-being in the body.
By addressing trauma at its physiological root, SE provides lasting relief from chronic stress, anxiety, and other trauma-related symptoms.
Internal Family Systems: Building Self-Leadership and Inner Harmony
Internal Family Systems, developed by Dr. Richard Schwartz, offers a compassionate framework for understanding the mind as a system of parts, each with its own roles, feelings, and needs. At the center of IFS is the Self—a wise, curious, and compassionate core that has the capacity to lead and heal these parts.
At TruSelf Therapy Collective, we honor each individual’s unique journey and tailor our approach to meet their specific needs. Whether you're seeking support for trauma, anxiety, attachment challenges, or personal growth, our integrative methods provide a compassionate, evidence-based path toward lasting transformation and self-discovery.
